Южнокорейская компания "РНЛ Био" объявила, что начинает заниматься клонированием домашних животных на коммерческой основе. Исполнительный директор компании Ра Чен-Хан сказал "В западных странах найдется много людей, которые желают получить точную копию своего домашнего любимца. Они готовы заплатить за это любые деньги". Клонированием будит заниматься ученые из Сеульского национального университета под руководством профессора ветеринарии Байонг-Чун-Ли. В 2005 году они первыми клонировали собаку Снуппи, а после провели еще несколько удачных экспериментов по клонированию собак. Сейчас стоимость клонирования составляет 150 тыс. долларов, но по мере набора клиентов цену обещают снизить до 50 тысяч. Первый заказ корейским ученым поступил из США. Жительница Калифорнии Бернанн Макнанни решилась клонировать своего питбуля Бугера, который когда-то спас ей жизнь. Ткани, взятые их уха Бугера перед смертью, сохранились в биотехнической лаборатории США. Помимо клонирования домашних любимцев "РНЛ Био" планирует клонировать лучших полицейских собак.
